About Us
In the ancient pre-historic northern forests, the bear was the most fearsome danger that plagued the early people who inhabited those lands. The creature was so feared that the hunters who braved those woods considered it taboo to even utter its true name. They believed that to say the animal's true name gave it power over the speaker and would invite certain misfortune or a deadly visit from the ursine predator. Instead, they referred to the powerful beast in euphemistic language - like "honeyeater" or "brown one." So absolute was this taboo against speaking the bear's true name, that it has now been lost to history. We can only guess what they called it by relying on reports from ancient Greek and Latin sources as they explored and fought for control of those frigid northern timberlands.
Today, law-abiding citizens exercise their right to bear arms in a society that increasingly considers those arms to be more and more taboo. Without purposeful effort, one day our Constitutionally enshrined rights may go the way of the honeyeater: only remembered in passing by euphemistic language.
